Obituary for Clara Juanita Hurst
CRANDALL, IN:
Clara Juanita Wagner Hurst, age 92, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Willows Senior Living, Corydon, Indiana. Juanita was born May 30, 1928 near Crandall to the late Parvin L. and Nellie E. Anderson Wagner. She married Charles Vaughn Hurst June 1, 1951. She was a longtime member of Crandall Lions Club, Order of Eastern Star Old Capitol Chapter # 467 in Corydon, Indiana, Indiana Retired Teachers Association and Crandall United Methodist Church. She graduated from the old New Salisbury High School and earned a BS and Masters Degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. She taught Vocational Home Economics at Montpelier, Lanesville and Clarksville for a total of 30 years and retired in 1984.
Juanita was best known in Harrison County for her interest and participation which she and her husband shared in the training and racing of Standard-Bred trotters and pacers under the C and J Stable name.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant sister, brothers, Lewis Daniel, George Ervin, Marvin Ray and Carl Lewis Wagner.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and long time friend Forrest Timberlake Jr. who cared for her.
Funeral 1 PM Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Swarens Funeral Home, 1405 Hwy 64 NW, Ramsey, Indiana with burial in St. Peters German Reform Cemetery, Crandall, Indiana
Visitation 9 AM to 1 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
