Obituary for Joseph Fritz Gettelfinger
Joseph F. “Fritz” Gettelfinger, 86, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021. Fritz was born September 18, 1934 in Ramsey, Indiana to the late Gerald A. and Mary Catherine Kiesler Gettelfinger. He retired from Pillsbury where he worked on the production line and was a member of the labor relations committee representing the Grain Miller’s International Local 33 Union.
As a former Harrison County commissioner, he served as Chairman of the Board from 1972 – 1976 and was a lifelong member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.
Fritz was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching IU basketball and Chicago Cubs baseball. He loved his farm, where his favorite past times were caring for his cows, feeding the deer and birds, and fishing with his beloved dog, Zoe.
Also proceeding him in death, a son, Andrew Paul Gettelfinger and a sister, Antoinette “Nettie” Swank.
Surviving is his loving wife of 63 years, Helen Loew Gettelfinger.

Grandchildren: Aaron, Sarah, Lucas, Annie, Andy, and April Gettelfinger, Michael Lesher, Brook Jones, Peyton Johnson, Abby and Connor O’Sullivan.
Visitation will be from 2-8 PM on Wednesday and after 9 AM on Thursday at Swarens Funeral Home, 1405 Highway 64 NW, Ramsey, IN. A prayer service will be held at 7 PM on Wednesday.
A funeral Mass will take place at 11AM, Thursday, September 2, 2021 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7600 Highway 337 NW, Depauw, IN with burial following in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church or to the Harrison County Animal Control.
