Obituary for Latif Tinker
Latif Tinker, 86, passed away peacefully in the early morning of June 3, 2021, in Corydon, Indiana.
Latif was a devoted husband for 27 years to Jean (McCue) Tinker (deceased). They lived their retirement years in Mesa, Arizona. In December of 2020, Latif moved to his daughter’s home in Greenville, Indiana.
Latif serve honorably for 8 years in the U.S. Naval Reserves, with service on the USS Gilligan. He learned electronics in the Navy and became a designer of circuit boards in the Silicon Valley.
Latif loved architecture and design. He designed and built his own home in Portland. He became a real estate investor and home remodeler.He loved hiking the Sierra’s and the Big Sur. Latif also loved sailing, but his most devoted hobby was dance. He and Jeanie regularly enjoyed ballroom dancing and later he became a dance instructor.
He devoted his spiritual life to Subud and often traveled to Indonesia.
Latif was born Gordon Tinker on February 8, 1935, in Portland, Oregon, to Lester Tinker and Irene (Raymond) Tinker. He is survived by his sister Donna Sjolund, his son Ron Tinker, his daughter Tracy Long, and his three grandchildren Sara Woolery, Roman Woolery and Iris McFarlin.
He will be remembered with love by his family and friends all over the world.
