Obituary for Merle J McIntosh
New Salisbury, IN:

Merle J. McIntosh, 87, of Richmond, IN passed away on May 6, 2017 at Friends Fellowship.

He was born April 8, 1930 in New Salisbury, IN to the late Victor and Kathryn McIntosh. On May 28, 1950 he married Louise Sieveking, who survives.

Also surviving are son Michael (Elaine) McIntosh of Muncie; daughter Cheryl (Garry) Kleer of Richmond; grandchildren Michelle Consolino, Karissa (Christopher) Mullett, Elizabeth (James) Doster, and David (Sarah) Kleer; and great-grandchildren Vincent and Dominic Consolino, Charlotte Mullett, and Benjamin and Zachary Doster.

Merle graduated from Morgan Township High School and worked at Wennings Meat Packing Company as a salesman until he retired. He served as Jackson Township Trustee and on the school board of North Central School Corporation. He was an active member of the Crandall Masonic Lodge #591, and joined Webb Lodge #24 when he moved to Richmond. He received his 50-year service award in 2015. Merle was an active member of the Shriners, helping with their can collection and transporting children to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Lexington, KY. He attended New Salisbury United Methodist Church and later Central United Methodist Church. He was proud to own his family’s farm and always considered himself a farmer. Merle was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed Indiana basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. He also enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Glen, Wayne, and Weldon McIntosh; his twin Harold McIntosh, and great-granddaughter Gabrielle Consolino.

The family would like to thank Friends Fellowship and AseraCare Hospice for their love and compassion.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 20th at 11:00am at Bethlehem Cemetery in Crandall, IN. Reception will follow at New Salisbury United Methodist Church.
