Obituary for Ronnie C. Leffler
Ronnie C. (Ron) Leffler, age 76, of Depauw, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN. Ron was born October 30, 1944 at Ramsey, IN to the late William Rusk and Josephine Wurm Leffler.
Ron was a graduate of Purdue University, where he earned a BS in
Education. He also graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, with a Master’s degree in Education. Ron taught agriculture at North Harrison High School. He later taught Agriculture at Salem High School. He also worked for many years at Federal Land Bank. He was a loan officer at Old Capitol Bank and worked for Prudential Insurance Company. He was a member of Crandall Masonic Lodge 591 F&AM and Old Capitol United Methodist Church.
Ron was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing weekly with his buddies. He also loved Purdue University and was a huge sports fan. Above all, though, Ron loved his family dearly, especially his grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, William Dale Leffler and Noble “Jim” Leffler, as well as brothers-in-law, Walter Roggenkamp and Stanley Stevens.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandy Rhoads Leffler of Depauw, IN, daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Michael Walker, grandsons, Landon Andrew and Brayden Michael Walker; Brothers, Donald (Carol) Leffler of Corydon, IN. and Stephen (Nancy) Leffler of Depauw, IN.; Sisters, Mary Jo Stevens of Corydon, IN and Barbara Roggenkamp of Corydon, IN; Brothers and sisters-in-law, Lester (Rhonda) Rhoads of Corydon, IN and Donn (Jerra) Rhoads of Corydon, IN; Nieces and Nephews, Rusk (Shirley) Roggenkamp, Roy (Dana) Leffler, Virginia (James) Elmore, Stefanie (Jim) Bliss, Jeremy (Ronda) Leffler, Danette Rhoads (Karen Koch), Michael (Stephanie) Rhoads, Matthew (Nikki) Rhoads and Derrick (Kelley) Delaney. He is also survived by several great nephews and nieces, as well as his life-long best friend, Keith Oppel.
Funeral 1 PM Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Old Capitol United Methodist Church, 141 S. Heidelberg Road SW, Corydon, IN with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Corydon, IN.
Visitation 4 – 8 PM Wednesday at Swarens Funeral Home, 1405 Hwy 64 NW, Ramsey, IN. and after 10 AM Thursday at Old Capitol United Methodist Church.
Masonic rites 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
