Ruth Elizabeth Churchill, 86 of Depauw, Indiana has gone home to be with her Lord. Ruthie was born at home near White Cloud at the start of the 1937 flood. Her parents were William D. and Grace E. Rosenbarger. She attended the one room schoolhouse at Fountain and then Corydon High School. When school district lines changed, she began attending the newly consolidated North Central High School holding classes in New Salisbury. It was at high school where she met her future husband of 67 years, Don S. Churchill.
Ruthie had fond memories of growing up within a warm loving community. She attended the Fountain EUB Church as a child, and was a member of Unity Chapel Methodist Church. Her faith was always an important part of her life.
Ruthie was an artist, talented seamstress, and designed the layout of both of their family homes. She was a farmer’s daughter and became a farmer’s wife. She could drive any truck or tractor she was given. She loved all God’s creatures especially cats.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Rosenbarger and an infant son, Gary Lee Churchill. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Stevens of Florida, her husband, Don, son David Churchill (Lynita), and daughter Kim Harmon (Hank Triplett). She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jessica Ollis (Josh), Carl Churchill (Brittany), John Churchill (Brianna), Jacob Churchill, Grace Huneck (Nic) and 10 great grandchildren.
Her funeral will take place at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 27 at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, north of Depauw. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 1pm to 7pm on Thursday, January 26 and again on Friday from 10am until the funeral.
