Obituary for Wilma Elizabeth Dale

Wilma Elizabeth (Dome) Dale was the eldest daughter of the late Charles Willis and Florence Edna (Damon) Dome of New Salisbury, Indiana. She was born May 25, 1923 and departed this life on October 21, 2021. She attended the old Jackson Township schools in New Salisbury, Indiana through high school and later graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. degree in Home Economics in 1945. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Corydon and the Delta Kappa Gamma Educator Professional Society. Following graduation, she taught Home Economics in Corydon, Indiana for 11 years.

In 1956 she married John Lester Dale and moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where they raised two sons, Bruce Allen Dale and Brian Ray Dale, and was an educator in the Milwaukee Public Schools for 14 years. Wilma moved to Sugar Land, Texas after her husband’s death in 1983 to be closer to both sons’ families and lived there until her recent passing.

Wilma was committed in her Christian faith and very active in the church. Over her lifetime, she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School to young children, sang in the choir, played piano for her adult Sunday School Class, and was an active volunteer in the United Methodist Women and “We Care” groups at the Sugar Land First United Methodist Church. Notably, she coordinated the interdenominational group, Seasoned Sitizens of Sugar Land (SSOS), for many years.

She enjoyed traveling, gardening, making music, cooking, sewing and handicraft, watching sporting events, helping others and most importantly spending time with family. Wilma is survived by sons, Bruce (Margaret) Dale and Brian (Jeri-Lynn) Dale; grandchildren, Christopher (Annebel) Dale and Meghan (Zachary) Atchison; and great grandchildren, Grayson and Piper Atchison, and Raegan Dale; and several generations of nieces, nephews, cousins and others.

A visitation is planned for Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 10 am with a memorial service to follow at 11 am at Settegast – Kopf Company, 15015 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, Texas 77478.
